Rafael Aleixandre Benavent


Qualifications (degree and doctorate): B.A (1980) and PhD (1991) in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Valencia.

Current position and institution: Senior Scientist at OPI. UISYS Group (University of Valencia). Ingenio (CSIC-UPV).

Research lines: Evaluation of scientific activity; Open data; Bibliometric studies.

Brief curricular review: Specialist in Medical Information Scientist by the Universitat de València. Main lines of work: evaluation of research and scientific publications; open access to publications and raw research data; studies on drug dependence. He collaborates in various teaching and research activities of several Spanish and foreign universities and has directed several research projects of the National Plan of R+D+I, the Generalitat Valenciana, the City Council of Valencia and various foundations and professional and scientific associations. He has carried out training and research stays in foreign centers in Lyon (France), Stellenbosch (South Africa), Vienna (Austria), Santiago (Chile) and Florianópolis (Brazil). In 2012 he was accredited as a university professor.

Current position and Institution: Chief of the Social and Health Research and Information Unit (UISYS Group). Professor. Department of History of Science and Information Science. School of Medicine and Dentistry. University of Valencia.

Research lines: Studies of addictive disorders; Epidemiological studies; Bibliometric studies; Data sharing; Evaluation of scientific activity.

Brief curricular review: He has been the medical chief of an Alcoholology Unit,and has collaborated with the Foundation for Drug Addiction Assistance and the Foundation for the Study of Prevention and Assistance to Drug Dependencies of the Valencian Community. He is a member of national and international scientific societies on drug dependence. His main lines of work focus on drug dependence studies and the evaluation of research and scientific publications. He has directed 11 doctoral theses and has participated in more than 50 competitive research projects or contracts in the aforementioned lines. He has published more than 180 articles and book chapters, a good part of them in journals with an impact factor in the area of substance abuse knowledge, such as Drug and Alcohol Dependence, Addiction, Addictive Behaviors, Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research, Addictions ... and of bibliometric studies, such as Scientometrics, Journal of Reporttrics, JASIS…

Brief curricular review: Professor since 2004 and with two sexennial period of research (2005-2016). Research member in various projects of the National Plan of R&D and main researcher in a precompetitive project of R&D of the Generalitat Valenciana. Member of the executive board of the Spanish Federation of Societies of Archivist, Librarians, Documentalist and Museology (FESABID) and the Official College of Librarians and Documentalists of the Valencian Community (COBDCV), Network University of Information and Documentation (RUID).

Research lines: The evaluation of scientific production, Social Network Analysis and Sociometrics.

Brief curricular review:: Since 2016 she is an associate professor in the Department of Sociology at the Universitat de València. She has participated in several publications in indexed journals. She is a collaborator of the IPRODES research group. She has participated in several research projects, including the PROMETEO project "VESTIGIUM" on the analysis and evaluation of science and Valencian scientists of the twentieth century and "DATASEA", on models for publishing, consuming and measuring the reuse of data derived from research. It also collaborates in various studies carried out under agreements with the Municipal Plan for Drug Addiction - UPCCA Valencia and the Department of Health of the Valencian Community.

He has been a visiting professor at universities in Brazil, Iceland, Belgium, Portugal and Uruguay.

Research lines: Evaluation of scientific activity; bibliometric studies and gender studies.

Brief curricular review: She has obtained a collaboration grant funded by the Ministry of Universities, within which she has participated in various conferences and presented several communications, one of which has received the award for best presentation. She is currently studying for a Master's Degree in Scientific Information and Communication at the University of Granada.
